My flight was sent out 10 minutes before the actual T-time. I had to start on my own. Caddy master was not friendly. Rather in a bad mood! I did not feel welcome.
Driving range far from clubhouse. Waited a lot! Needed 4,5 hours to finish.

"The course was very dry which we saw on a lot of courses at the Costa del Sol. We will not play again on this course with a two ball; too many slow four balls (due to the hotel belonging to Almenara?)

Everything was fantastic.
This year the course was badly kept and the buggy very dirty and in bad shape, as was the buggy paths.
A lot disturbances from workmen as we were on the course and a lot of waiting to play.

On finishing our round we find all our travel bags stolen as theives had smashed the back window of our bus. staff member tells us that this is becoming a regular thing and at the same parking spot. no warning given or security to prevent. Robbery on all fronts...will never go back."

"Nice course, well laid out and interesting with some quite challenging holes especially a short par 4 where you drive over a ravine followed by a par 3 to an island green that is surrounded by water.
A new club house is being built, which will improve the current shop, bar and restaurant facilities which are not very good.
The bunkers let the course down, they are full of hard compacted sand and need some serious attention.
Overall this course is worth a visit."

"Poor experience playing the course, although the course is attractive and well laid out it is in very, very poor condition. The fairways are bare and patchy and in serious need of attention and the greens are terrible.
Play Minthis Hills, which is in much better condition, for the same price or if you feel inclined to pay higher green fees the best course in the area is the Elea Estate designed by Nick Faldo closely followed by the very expensive Aphrodite Hills."

"Hi,
I have now played Montecastillo about 25 times on four different holidays from Oct 2010 the last one Nov 2011. Although the course this time was not as good as the other 3 holidays, the reason for this is quite clear, it has now become a very popular golf holiday for good but mostly casual golfers. The problem being not every golfer is keen to repair ball marks on the greens and also replacing their divots, we were repairing up to 10 ball marks per green the first few days, on doing this each day when you play the next day the greens are better.
The course is superb in every way having all different types of holes, I am 68 years old and have carried a bag with 8 clubs inside every time on playing the course, there are a couple of long walks between Tees where a buggy would help so the choice is up to you.

"Hello In general I have ticked most of the boxes with a high mark. The clubhouse etc was fab and was pampered from start to finish so top marks so far The tees although in very good condition looked artificial what I mean by that is they looked like mats we use in Scotland in Winter for temporary tees the fairways very very good considering the heat the course has to stand up to what personally I did not like ABOUT the course was that is was very open especially down below the clubhouse making it look a bit barren and wind swept but my main complaint would be the bunkers far to many for an average player to cope with a course can have too little but in this case to many yes one should think more carefully about club selection and where one should aim so its the players fault I suppose the average player has to keep laying up often to try and avoid the bunkers short of the green there by losing extra strokes.To be fair I played very well going out and poorly coming home so may be I am not being fair about Elea but after all my moans I WOULD STILL COME BACK FOR MORE PUNISHMENT one day"

"We were sent an email the day before our tee off day. Too late. Was unaware until we got to Foressos at 1pm.
Very apologetic young lady explained that the course had suffered from heat and lack of water and as a result was diseased. That added to the severe spiking of the tees, no water in the lakes, and regular saturation on the fairways (from what? Leaking irrigation pipes maybe?).
All in all it did not present well at all and was the worst looking course we have played in 5 years of Spanish trips.
That said, we had the buggies at a small discount, free pitch repairers and course guides, so Maria Wasserstein certainly trying to appease us." - The heavyweights captain

"I enjoyed playing the course over all it was most enjoyable except for the terrible long drives in the buggy to get to a few ties particular the 3rd and 7th from a visitor point of view it was really scary winding down these hills but I suppose when on holiday one needs something different. "A well maintained course although the semi rough is thick and can be difficult to get out of. Most holes seem to slope up to the greens so there is very little carry onto the green. An extra club is worth considering for the approach shot. The course is quite open to start with but as the one plays the last 4 or 5 holes the course winds up into the steep rocky mountainous area. The holes become shorter but much tighter.
whilst the course is walkable playing in September is still hot and I would recommend a buggy.
The clubhouse and terrace is situated in a very pretty setting. The menu is good and the food excellent.

"The course was in super condition it offers a great test of your game. The par 4s and 5s are all long, good tee shots on the fairways are essential.We would recommend a buggy for this course even though it is flat, the day we played it was 38C. Quinta da Cima does not have the views of its sister course Quinta da Ria, yetr is a stunning place to play. Memorable hole is 18, a long accurate tee shot over a stream, you then have the option to lay up or play a 3 wood to a green gurded by water all down the left hand side."

"We have played Quinta Da Ria on a number of ovccasions in the past, whenever we visit the Algarve we always play the course at least once, the same with its sister course Quinta Da Cima, both offer a different challenge to all standards of player. If we had one small complaint this lat time it would be the greens, they had recently been dressed and consequently a lot slower than usual.
THere is a hotel attached to the course Robinsons. The course also has some fantastic coastal views."

"This is a must for any serious golfer and it is easy to see why the European Tour used it for their Q School. Every hole is different and in excellent condition. The greens are fast and full of subtle borrows that require a delicate touch. The only disappointment were the bunkers as they lacked depth of sand especially those around the greens. In summary, an excellent course and a strong test of golf." - Graham Lawson
