Local MarketsMarkets take place at all the major resorts along the Costa del Sol one morning per week. The most popular buys you will find include fruit and vegetables, leather goods, ceramics and lace. If you are a bargain hunter then you will certainly enjoy the hustle and bustle of these popular local events, as well as the often-excellent prices on offer. Furthermore, bartering is very normal at Spanish markets and if you’re good then you might be able to get the price down even further. Its great fun and you won’t be offending anyone, so why not give it a go! Note, however, that many local towns and smaller villages also have markets with their own individual charm. If you are looking for something more traditional or typically Andalucian, these may well be the places to look. Blankets, chinaware, embroidery, pots and bowls, and specially designed tin and wrought iron goods are examples of what might be found. So, if you are planning on getting out and about you never know where you might come across a market with something different. A car may well be needed to reach some of these, though. One thing to remember when you go to the markets is that there are occasionally some colourful characters there. Therefore, while they are safe and fun places to go, remember to take special care of your belongings and do not carry more cash with you than is necessary. Local market locations
