MijasSurrounded by urbanisations, villas and residential complexes, the little village of Mijas has somehow managed to retain its charm. While keeping up with the times, it yet preserves its primal spirit. Mijas is situated inland from Fuengirola and is accessible from both the main toll road and the coastal road. Mijas is a charming array of whitewashed houses nestling in the mountains. Visitors can ride on the famous donkey-taxis, visit the sanctuary of the patron saint of the village, the ‘Señora de la Peña’ (Lady of the Rock), or the ancient Consistorial House, now the Town Hall. But if what you want is to get away from typical tourist attractions and really feel the essence of this engaging village, the best way is to meander through the village streets and give yourself up to its magic.
