"Marbella Golf Club is a difficult but enjoyable challenge. Front nine more hilly than back nine. Buggies were only allowed on the paths due to recent wet rainfall but it was not a problem getting to your ball. Buggy recommended especially in hot weather. "Heavy rain during the last days made the course by management order kept open! Buggies on slippery pathways only allowed! After hole 5 heavy rain led us to shorten the course back to clubhouse! Club staff advised us to pause until the rain would stop! Other players commented that the club was in urgent need of income resulting in keeping players on the course! "The course was in fabulous condition, just a few bare spots due to heavy buggy traffic. Several holes are visually stunning, tree lined on the front 9 but more open on the back 9, a lot of raised greens making club selection difficult. The greens putted really well, very quick downhill and quite hot of grain on some greens. Having not played it before I found it tricky in several places, but overall it was visually stunning and a real pleasure to play. The par 5 13th especially is a superb hole with water all the way down the left hand side, special mention for the par 3 11th as I made 2 there! The customer service was first class, you definitely need a buggy as some of the hikes from green to tee are very long and hilly, there is still quite a lot of walking required as the buggy paths are well back from all of the greens. "A general lack of maintenance on the course in general marred the experience. Especially noticeable on fairways. Greens were acceptable to good. "1. Practice facilities and practice putting green. - reasonable facility but the practice balls were like hitting marbles. Neither of us finished our baskets. Putting green in very poor condition. 2. Fairways - clearly suffering from lack of maintenance. We agreed after the 2nd hole to play pick and place as there was a lot of mud on balls. 3. Greens - reasonable to good condition 4. Condition of pathways - some very steep pathways which were wet and slimy. After two close mishaps I asked my wife to get out the buggy as I tentatively took it down some of the steeper pathways. 5. Clubhouse - staff, food and welcome were very good. There is a really interesting course out there that needs some TLC." - The married pair

"Easy parking. Remember to drop the golf bags at the front of the club house before parking. Buggy is only available 10 min before tee-off. The front 9 holes are very challenging :-) the holes have quite big elevation differences. Some holes have the green very high, some have the green very low. The back 9 holes are more "normal". The views from the front 9 holes were in some places stunning. The fairways are in ok condition, greens good. Buggy is a good idea because of the big elevation differences. The staff was friendly and the service was good. We enjoyed very much to play Marbella Golf Country Club, will for sure come back." - Morten Christensen

Why not advise the prospective golfers before they book. It took 245 min for front 9. "Love this course having played it a no. of times. Fair to say it's like 2 courses in one with the front 9 using the hills and natural surroundings in providing a very challenging 9 holes and the back 9 being more like a UK parkland course. You need to be accurate and pick your way around the front 9 as anything out of place is in the laps of the gods! The course it's self was in great nick and the greens ran true.
